Norelco Mori on Indiegogo

As you may know, I’ve created a campaign on IndieGoGo to raise funds for new tape decks for the show.

Why, tapes? Artists and musicians regularly use cassettes for distributing their works because it’s a cheap, quick and accessible option for those of us that release music individually and prefer tangible formats. There are an astounding amount of masterful works and uniquely raw recordings of which you will never find on a Spotify or competing streaming service. And rightly so. Cassettes encourage, if not, demand uninterrupted listening. The idea of an album with a well thought out track order may not exist in today's culture of digital music on demand, but in cassettes it thrives. There has been a bit of a resurgence in this format as of late, but the fact is, cassettes never went anywhere. They have always been a staple in underground music.

My aim for the Norelco Mori podcast is to simply share this incredible music. In just 3 months and 11 episodes, I've been in touch with music fans, artists and labels from across the globe. I've already seen a staggering amount of music showing up at my doorstep and have ended up hearing some really great stuff. Now I don't make any money from this, but if you, the listener, hear something you like and wind up a fan of something new, maybe buy a tape or see a show, then I consider that a win.

If you're already a listener, you may (or well, hopefully) may not have noticed my current setup is in need of a tune up. Most players are these days. With Norelco Mori now 11 episodes deep, I'm fully committed to the success of this broadcast, but I could use a hand. I'd like to ask for your help in funding some much needed upgrades for my recording set up. I'm not trying to do anything too crazy, just looking to get a pair of new, rack mountable Tascam 202mkVI's. These are actually new units (still being made today!) that come with a warranty and can be easily serviced when necessary. Your help in securing these new players will boost fidelity and insure the longevity of the show. Anything above the $666 that I hope to raise will help offset hosting costs for the website as well as cover repairs for some other show specific recording gear.
